What I want to be wearing on Valentines Day

Hi all,

I’ve put together this collage of some of my favourite things that I think would make a couple of fab Valentines date outfits.

Valentines Day Looks

Jarlo ‘Blaze’ Maxi Dress // 2 Pyrrha ‘Devotion’ Talisman Necklace // 3 Babaton ‘Templeton’ Dress // 4 Free People ‘Adelaide’ Ring // 5 Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ Sandal // 6 NYX ‘Monte Carlo’ Soft Matte Lip Cream // 7 Tarte ‘Tartelette’ Limited Edition Amazonian Butter Lipstick // 8 Steve Madden ‘Comely’ Sandal

So although all these items can be mixed and matched; I like to think of them as two separate outfits.

The red Maxi, gold sandals, gold ring and soft pink lipstick would be my dream outfit if I was somewhere hot and warm! (This ones for you, my Australian followers!) I think the Red dress would be so gorgeous dressed up or dressed down, which is how I’m more likely to wear it. That’s why I paired it with a relaxed sandal and a delicate ring. This tarte lipstick is sooo beautiful! I saw it first in this post by the beautiful Cara Loren, and I’ve been dying to pick it up since! Such a pretty pink colour. I think I would do this with my hair in a long low braid over my shoulder.

The items on the right is more likely what I would be wearing here in Vancouver. I love a pretty soft slip dress! So romantic! I think as long as they’re not too short, they can make you feel sexy in such a classy way. However, don’t go for a short one! Then you actually look like you are just wearing a slip… unless that’s your thing. You do you babes, you do you! I’m so in love with Pyrrha jewelry! My friend introduced my to this line when I was in need of a gift for my mother-in-law. The Devotion talisman is probably my favourite for Valentines day, it reads ‘La Fidelle’ which means the faithful one in Latin and features a dove in the branches of an olive tree – symbolizing patience and serenity. The Nyx soft matte lip creams have become a favourite of mine! I’m currently wearing the colour, Istanbul, but I think this berry red would be wonderful for this outfit!! And I mean come on, who can say no to a gorgeous Stuart Weitzman sandal?? I’m loving this style such a dainty strappy look! I would wear this outfit with my hair in a messy top knot orrr down in some loose waves. What do you guys think?

What do you have planned for Valentines day? Big plans with your sweetheart? Or perhaps having a girls night with your besties?

A Pop of Red

Hi all,

I decided to interrupt my travel post to bring you an outfit one! I recently purchased this red current bag from Coach, and I’m having so much fun with it! Really anything red or burgundy this season is a must for me! I’ve always loved Coach, and even though it’s been on the decline lately I’m frequently happy to wander in and marvel at the new bags. But with Coach’s new creative director, Stuart Vevers, in charge, I feel like the brand is now on an upswing! I was so shocked and very excited for them with the announcement that the brand had purchased shoe designer, Stuart Weitzman! That’s huge for them!

I love this outfit because it’s so comfy casual but then with the leather bag and pop of red lipstick it looks pulled together (at least in my opinion). With the cold and rainy weather present in Vancouver right now (okay, it’s actually present all the time!) it’s so important to have pieces that are both warm and stylish! I hope you guys enjoy!

Holiday Style – #BringOnTheSequins

Hi all!

So I know this is a little late, as most of you are probably through with your holiday parties and are cozied up with all your loved ones! However, If are still looking for the perfect new years eve outfit, I may just have you covered! When it comes to the holidays, I really don’t think you can be over-dressed. (Unless, of course you show up in your prom dress from so many years ago that – let’s be honest – was over dressed even for that occasion). My favourite little touches for the holidays are sparkle! Statement necklaces galore, and I’ve noticed in the last year or two it’s really become more acceptable to be wearing head to toe sequins. I love it, it’s the only time of year that this is allowed, so why not totally embrace it?! Another thing I can’t get enough of is faux fur! Obviously the fur vest that has become a staple in anyones wardrobe in the last few years but also fur throws and fur pillows are present a lot right now. I think fur makes anything look just a little more chic, and a fur throw on your bed is probably the most coziest thing in the world! Especially when displayed with lots of little tea lights. #dreamy

For my outfit here, I initially picked up the skirt at H & M and didn’t think too much of it. However when I tried it on, I noticed how fab my butt looked! I even felt like maybe I had a little Kardashian in me somewhere! I initially was going to pair it with a white camisole but then found this white cropped t-shirt that I think really made it more on trend! I paired it with black suede flats from aldo, curled my hair with my new NUME Titan 3 Wand (Seriously the best thing ever!) and put on my favourite red lipstick from MAC and looked in the mirror. I kinda felt like a mix between a Kardashian (YAYY a butt!!) and Taylor Swift. Taylor has been wearing cropped tops galore lately and she cut her hair shortly after mine (hands up for the LOB look this season!). I’m definitely in love with this look, I wore it to Shawn’s office party and got many compliments on it!

Tell me in the comments what your favourite holiday trends this year are!!

Game Day/Casual Style

Hi guys,

So something that Shawn and I love to do once in a while is go see a Vancouver Canucks game. Since we don’t plan on living in the city forever, we have fun taking advantage of these sorts of activities while we are here. To be honest, before I started dating a hockey player I barely knew what off-sides meant or many other rules. I was a tried and true self-proclaimed ‘bandwagoner’. I’m ok with that, I think.

When Shawn moved to Illinois to play in the FHL and the CHL, I would stream everyone of his games. It was so fun to watch! That was when I really learned about hockey and started researching all about it online. It’s so funny that when someone you love is interested in something, it becomes an interest of yours too.

Anyways, so now hockey is something we both enjoy! Here is my take on a relaxed game day style. I’m wearing a jean jacket – just from H and M, but any jean jacket would do; A Wilfred blanket scarf that I mentioned in my gift guide, I seriously love these! So big and comfy; Just an old grey sweater, any t-shirt or light sweater would do though. My burgundy jeans are J Brand. I got them on sale at the Aritzia warehouse sale. I tend to buy most of my denim from this sale because you can get brands like Rag and Bone and J Brand for as low as $30!! Make sure you go on the last day as that’s when everything is marked down the most. My toque is from Roots Canada. The brown cross-body bag is one of my favourites! My parents got it for me in South Africa, it’s made from Ostrich leather! And lastly, my absolute favourite Frye boots – I’ve had these for 6 years and they’re still my favourite! Once these boots are broken in, they are just the comfiest things on your feet!

Hope you enjoy! Let me know in the comments what are some of your favourite game-day style options!!

Holiday Gift Guide for Her

Hi guys,

So I finally finished my last exam today!! I’m in Christmas vacation mode now until the end of the month! And I absolutely love it.

Anyways, one of the things I was most excited about letting myself indulge in after my exams was christmas present shopping!! I love it! And while I was shopping today I just happened to spot some things that I’m absolutely in love with! It’s funny how that happens, isn’t it?! I thought I would compile a list of all the things that I’m absolutely loving right now in case you need some ideas for that special woman in your life – Bestie, girlfriend, sister, mom, whatever she may be!!Holiday Gift Guide 2014

1. Leah Alexandra Jewelry | 2. Auxiliary – Balthasar Satchel | 3. Wilfred – Diamond Mosaic Blanket | 4.  Daniel Wellington – Classic St. Andrews Lady | 5. Urban Decay – Naked3 Palette | 6. Rag & Bone – Classic Newbury | 7. For Love & Lemons – Ethereal Maxi Skirt

Leah Alexandra Jewelry I’m obsessed with this jewelry artist! My boyfriend purchased a ring and a necklace from her line for christmas last year, and they are my absolute favourite!! I recommend anyone going to check out her website, all her jewelry is so beautiful and uses the most precious stones. Any woman in your life would be ecstatic to find this under her tree. I mean, what woman doesn’t love jewelry!

Auxiliary Satchel I really do love Aritzia, I think their stuff is fabulous – especially this bag from Auxiliary. This colour is definitely in this season and the leather is divine! I think the architecture of this bag is just beautiful and would make any outfit just a little more beautiful!

Wilfred Diamond Blanket I have this blanket/scarf/wrap in a different colour and design but I am dying for this one! They are the best! I love that they are totally oversized and make you feel so comfy! There are so many different ways to tie this one, I generally just like to wear it draped just over my neck when I’m wearing my parka (it’s pretty cold in Vancouver right now…).

Daniel Wellington Watch This watch has been on my list since I spotted the Londoner wearing a Daniel Wellington watch back in 2013. I love how classically beautiful they are, so clean and chic! I’m not sure why I haven’t succumbed to this purchase yet, but the more I think about it, the more I’m convincing myself I should get it to celebrate ending my exams! Yes, I think I will…

Urban Decay Naked3 These rose gold hues are my absolute favourite! And Urban Decay palettes are actually the best eye shadows! These palettes have every colour you could need and will last so long! Plus they come with a lovely little brush to apply them. I’ve sent my brother numerous facebook messages hinting how much I would love to see this under the tree this year, let’s see if he plays along…

Rag and Bone Booties These booties are everything! I think every girl needs a good pair of black booties and these are just the ones! So classic with just enough twist to make them modern. Plus Rag & Bone booties are beyond comfy!

For Love and Lemons Maxi Skirt Time for the grand finale! The last dance! The big bang! And whatever other cliche you can think of to discuss the conclusion. I only just found this skirt today while browsing online. Can I just say WOWWWWW. I think this skirt is beyond beautiful! I’m sooo into this colour this season, as you can tell by many of the other items on my list! But this colour combined with this lace. I’m hyperventilating, I love it so much!! I may go to sleep dreaming about this skirt….

Let me know in the comments what your wish lists are!

Happy Holidays!
